Why Viagra and Cialis Eventually Stop Working

Updated: Oct 12, 2021

Viagra was a game-changer in 1998!

Viagra absolutely changed the game for the treatment of erectile dysfunction when it was introduced more than two decades ago. Before then, if guys had a problem getting hard they had to stick their penis in a vacuum pump and try to keep the erection with a constriction band, stick a needle in their junk, or a pellet in their urethra. If they didn't like that they could have an operation.

Viagra, Levitra, Cialis and Strendra changed all of that. But as fantastic as the pde5 inhibitors have been, over time guys stop getting their prescriptions filled. 30% of men who try one of these drugs and has a favorable response will stop having refills filled after 6 months, and 50% will quit after 17-18 months.https://www.scielo.br/j/ibju/a/37tcPQQYp6pGWb5fC33JCJK/?lang=en

Why do guys stop taking the pills? Certainly some of the issues include the high cost, loss of spontaneity, and side effects. The other problem with these pills is that whatever process created the need for the pill continues unabated. The most common reason that guys have problems getting or keeping an erection is vascular. There's not enough blood getting in, or perhaps there's a leak, and the blood doesn't stay in the corpora cavernosa. Viagra doesn't fix that, so like a clogged pipe, it just keeps getting worse.

Eventually, the Viagra just stops working.

The Biochemistry Of An Erection

Phosphodiesterase type 5 destroys erections. Drugs like Viagra inhibit this action, and in this way, promote erections. Nitric Oxide promotes erections. That's why so many natural erection enhancement products try to support the production of Nitric Oxide. That is just one of the many benefits of Uroshock's PV13. https://www.uroshock.com/items-1-1

Viagra is a great drug, but.....

Most patients don't want to be dependent upon having to take a pill every time they want to have sex. They understandably prefer spontaneity. Many patients just can't take pde5i drugs because their medical conditions preclude their use. Others find the side effects unacceptable. Almost everybody would like to have a better quality erection that they can depend upon every time, without taking a pill.

Low intensity shock waves (LiESW) a potential alternative to drug therapy

Among the multiple potential benefits of low intensity shock waves is enhanced expression of endothelial nitric oxide synthase. Nitric Oxide is a key biochemical driver of natural erections. Not only can shock waves encourage regenerative processes, but it can also work directly at a biochemical level. Clinical studies have demonstrated that many patients who previously required pde5is don't require the drugs after treatment with shock waves. Further, some patients who previously failed to respond to medication (non-responders) resume response after undergoing treatment with shock waves. https://www.uroshock.com/scientific-data-aggregation
